Here is something about a Berlin-based environemt project, which you can find on a lot of online travel portals those days – Atmosfair.

What is atmosfair?

Each flight contributes to climate warming. But if you want to travel to San Francisco from Europe, except of just letting it be there was no practical alternative. But if you are in a situation like this, you can do your contribution to climate protection by using atmosfair.

How does atmosfair work?

atmosfair allows air travellers to calculate the quantity of greenhouse gases caused by their flights and how much it costs to save these emissions elsewhere by investing in climate protection projects. With your donation atmosfair realizes solar, hydropower, biomass, or energy-efficiency projects which save the amount of greenhouse gases your flight has emitted before.

The panorama of New york is truly a dream. But whatever meets the eye are stones, glass and concrete. This is New York, it`s the metropolis, the opposite of a rural idyll. But wait: Do I stray a little too much in stereotypes? Obviously yes, because there were news recently, the Big Apple would turn into a thoroughly green apple – and It starts already in the gastronomy:

Organic grocery stores open everywhere, restaurants are serving the booming organic food – and in Chelsea, the first Biohotel of the city will soon be opened. Marco Burlimann, Director of Food and Beverage at the luxury hotel Essex House, confirmed the boom in eco-tourism business: “There is a veritable organic trend in upscale restaurants.”

Further, around the abandoned elevated railway in the west of Manhattan opened a new park, for which the city administration will spend 180 million euros.

Clearely, this investment will pay off soon. Because even today, the most expensive New York roads are located around the Central Park. And so it is hoped that the current “greening plans” last and New York will get a whole new image in the future. It would do the city on the Hudson River certainly good.

To Apply Ecotrophea, persons, groups, organizations, businesses and municipalities are welcomed with their projects from all over the world. Decisive for the award is not the size of the operation, but the most effective, exemplary and innovative contribution of the project on sustainable tourism.

More information and detailed tender documents can be found on the website www.drv.de and in the Department of Environment & Culture.

…Nutritionist and author Jonny Bowden has created several lists of healthful foods people should be eating but aren’t. But some of his favorites, like purslane, guava and goji berries, aren’t always available at regular grocery stores. I asked Dr. Bowden, author of “The 150 Healthiest Foods on Earth,” to update his list with some favorite foods that are easy to find but don’t always find their way into our shopping carts. Here’s his advice.

Beets: Think of beets as red spinach, Dr. Bowden said, because they are a rich source of folate as well as natural red pigments that may be cancer fighters.
How to eat: Fresh, raw and grated to make a salad. Heating decreases the antioxidant power. …

As been mentioned several times at the Smart Grids Week, which took place last week in Vienna, electricity from photovoltaic systems is particularly valuable due to the inverter technology which is good for the network. It is also a technology which has the largest increases -so the facility owners should not worry about the future income, because each network operator is going to to pay good money for this power - several industry representatives confirmed this already.
